Sydney rockers Lillye have recorded an incredible, scorching version of The Screaming Jets classic, Better.

The nearly 30 year old song became part of Aussie Rock’s DNA from the moment that iconic drum fill kicked in. It peaked at number 4 on the Aria Charts, was quickly certified Gold and the Jets have been a household name ever since.

To celebrate its’ achievement, Lillye wanted to pay tribute to the song that has become an Australian rock anthem.
Bringing their own character to the song with its brooding versus and darker feel, the band have brought new light to it. Jets bassist, Paul Woseen gave it a big tick of approval when it was played to him too, stating that “It’s fucking great… I love how the guys have really made it their own

After all the hardship that Australia has had since the end of last year, we wanted to cover a classic Aussie rock tune to lift spirits and take people back to the days when pub rock was alive and kicking “ says lead singer, Virginia Lillye.

The track was recorded at bass player Christian Lauria’s home studio, Machine Men Studios. Christian loves nothing more than a simplistic bass line which, he believes, in turn is the pulse and main drive to a song. “I was drawn to this iconic song because of this. To me it resembles the resilient nature of our country.. keeps our pulses pumping”.

This is the first release from Lillye that welcomes new member to the band, Stef Billimoria. “Better was the first song I heard by the Screaming Jets. That iconic drum intro and rhythm set the feel and intensity of the song that still holds up today”. With the drums being laid down at Hill Valley Studios in the Blue Mountains, Stef recalls the fun he had laying down his parts and keeping in the classic cymbal “ting” in the middle of the song was a must. “I wanted to pay homage to the original by keeping this in. It’s a small detail with much weight

Lillye have been in the studio finishing off tunes for their next album due out later in the year. They can’t wait for things to improve in the world so they can get out there and do what they love most.. playing live. Adding such a classic Aussie rock tune to their repertoire, they hope to bring rock ‘n’ roll back to the masses throughout these hard times.

Lillye @ Band Together

Due to a car accident when Crazy Town hit a moose and while nobody was killed there have been injuries to two of the travelling party which make the long haul to Australia and ability to perform live not possible. Now we are doing everything we can to reschedule these dates so we ask all the fans and media in this situation to remain patient while behind the scenes we work as fast as we can to see if it’s possible to set this back up for either January or February.

As a small Australian business have never cancelled a tour it’s an expensive thing to do for all parties involved losing in flights, venues in foot traffic for the night and our nationwide team apologizes again and maintains for the fans we always provide the cheapest tickets for the best fans out there in our niche of the market, of course anyone unable to attend the rescheduled dates will either be refunded direct from RapTix, Oztix, or your other point of sale.

So hold onto your tickets, bare with us let us work hand in hand with Crazy Town and hopefully we are rocking on!

*Lillye would like to send our wishes to the band and their crew… we will see you all soon!*

What’s been going on behind the scenes!!

It’s been sometime so we thought we should share with you what’s been going on in Lillye world!

With Stef our dreaded-hair loving drummer now settled into his beastly role, having smashed through festivals Wallapalooza and Amped festivals, we are looking forward to getting out amongst it more often. Both festivals were killer days with all bands absolutely slaying it!! We were stoked to see our record label buddies A Breach Of Silence on the Wallapalooza festival with us. Great shows and awesome vibes indeed!!

In between tightening up our live musical threads, we have been locked away in the studio writing new material for our next album due out 2020. Fresh tunes are being laid down with one track already locked in with a video already shot and ready to be released…. but we will keep you waiting till the time is right!

We have some exciting shows coming up to end the year… First up in the calendar we are sharing the stage with US rap-rockers Crazytown!! Best known for their hugely popular single, ‘Butterfly’, we can’t wait to party like its early 2000 again! We will be joining them on their Sydney show on 5th December at The Burdekin, in Darlinghurst. Also on the line up are Mixtape For The Drive and Lit Up. Contact us for hard copy tickets!! Gonna be a kick ass show!!

Second show announcement is Blaze Festival in Geelong on 7th December at The Barwon Club Hotel. This will be our first time in the southern part of Victoria and excitement is brewing! With bands like Desecrator, Demonhead, The Resignators and Muscle Car this is sure to be one hell of a day! This is the first time this festival has travelled to Geelong so grab a ticket, come down say hi and let’s kick off the day with some serious raucous fun!

Our final show for 2019, will be #BandTogether… A charity concert for the NSW Bushfire Appeal. The NSW Bush fires of November 2019 have been well documented as being catastrophic. Thanks to Silverback Touring, we have been selected to play at Crowbar in Sydney on December 22nd. We are proud to be up alongside our brothers and sisters of the rock n’ roll scene in Sydney, giving back to all those effected and involved including the Rural Fire Service and Wires. Every cent raised through tickets sales and merchandise will be donated. It will be an awesome day with bands such as The Art, Bad Moon Born, Dept. of Gloom, Eight Ball Junkies, Molly & The Krells and Screaming Eagle, delicious food to satisfy your tastebuds and chilled drinks… good times are assured. This is one event not to be missed!!

We hope we can catch up with you at one of the shows mentioned above… Be great to see how you are all doin and celebrate the ending of another great year!!

Till then… back to the studio we go!!
